Chimney Inspection Levels Explained

Chimney Inspection Levels Explained

Not all chimney inspections are the same. Here is the difference between a Level 1 and Level 2 inspection, and which one you need.

Level 1: the annual check

A Level 1 inspection is a visual check of the readily accessible parts of your chimney and connections. It is right for a chimney in regular use with no changes to the system.

Level 2: for sales and changes

A Level 2 adds a camera scan of the entire flue and is required when you buy or sell a home, after any change to the system, or following a chimney fire or storm.

Why it matters

A proper inspection catches cracked liners, hidden masonry damage, and blockages before they become safety hazards or expensive repairs.
